Hoffman Specialty float for 2" 55FT and 2" FTO15 15lb F&T traps. Hoffman Specialty floats attach to the valve mechanism on F&T traps; it is this device that allows the condensate to drain from the trap. The mechanism is a lever and seat operation, it is held in place by screwing the seat into the outlet port within the trap. With the float attached to this mechanism, the weight of the float keeps the lever down in turn keeping the seat closed when steam is present. When the steam cools and turns to a liquid state (condensate), the trap fills with condensate causing the float to rise and this opens the seat to allow the condensate to drain.
